Forum on enforced disappearances

The Peruvian human rights organisation Qatary Panituri organises a forum over enforced disappearances. Participants to this event will be mainly family members, lawyers and representatives of the judicial system of the region of Huancavelica, where a great number of enforced disappearances took place. Qatary Panituri counts with the colaboration of Association of the Familiy Members of the Disappeared of Huancayo (AFDDEET) and the Bar of Huancavelica for the organisation of this activity.

Participants to this event will be mainly family members, lawyers and representatives of the judicial system of the region.  The event will count with the collaboration of the Ombudsman of Huacavelica, and Samúel Fernández, president of the Association of the Familiy Members of the Disappeared of Huancayo (AFDDEET) as speakers. Finally the forum wil also count with the participation of Erika Ramos who represents the Ministery of Justice in the Interamerican Court of Human Rights.

Since reparation is a subject of much interest to those affected by enforced disappearances in this region, Qatary Panituri is studying the possibility of inviting a member of Multisectorial Commission of High Level (CMAN). This commission is an official organ in charge of reparations to the victims of violence that took place in Peru in between 1980 and 2000

After the forum a training for representatives of family member organisations of all provinces in this region will follow. This training covers legal action mechanisms that can be put into practice in case of an enforced disappearance. This is a continuation of the LiLA capacity building programme, developed by the program Linking Solidarity of the dutch human rights organisation Aim for human rights.
