Durante 2008, el Grupo de Trabajo transmitió 1.203 nuevos casos de desapariciones forzadas a los Gobiernos de Argelia, Argentina, Bangladesh, Camerún, Chad, Colombia, India, Indonesia, la República Islámica del Irán, Iraq, Japón, Jamahiriya Árabe Libia, Mexico, Marruecos , Namibia, Nepal, Pakistán, Perú, Filipinas, la Federación de Rusia, Sri Lanka, Sudán, Suiza, Tailandia, Turquía, Viet Nam, Yemen y Zimbabue. De los nuevos casos denunciados, 83 ocurrieron presuntamente durante el mismo período.
