An Exceptional Collapse of the Rule of Law

Asian Legal Resource Center, Asian Human Rights Commission and Families of the Disappeared

2004, Asian Legal Resource Center, Asian Human Rights Commission and Families of the Disappeared:

The (conservatively estimated) 30,000 enforced disappearances that took place in the south of Sri Lanka are analyzed in this book from the perspective of the political change that occurred in the country after the elections of July 1977. A collection of 29 stories told by family members of the disappeared give vivid descriptions of the desperation of the family members as well as of the political and social climate of that time.
