Nepal: Approved the bill on disappearance

Nepal has approved the bill on disappearances, and soon will be presented to the parliament, Human rights organisations still have some concerns about this bill and are trying to amend it before it becomes law.

On the 25th of November, Linking Solidarity received the news that Nepal had approved the bill on Disappearances. This is a very positive news for the Nepalese victims of enforced disappearances and their family members.

However family member organisations still have concerns with some points of this bill like for example the definition of the crime, reparation, penalty for the perpetrators, protection of witnesses, independence of the commission and appointment procedures. Family member organisations and experts are working on amending this bill before it is adopted by the parliament
