Context
According to the last UNWGEID report of 2006 most cases happened in the period 1981 - 1989. Some of the victims were members of armed opposition groups, but also included journalists and students. The UNWGEID requested a visit to Iran for 2004 but it was postponed by the Government of Iran, and no date has been given by the Iranian authorities when this visit could take place.
